I’ve been busily planning for this great event with my chapter mates at Rose City Romance Writers: wRomance: A weekend of writing and love and this post serves as my official invite to all and sundry to come hang with me and a bunch of other romance authors and readers in Portland on February 20th and 21st.

Who will be there?

Well, Damon Suede and his partner Geoff Symon, for starters. Damon and Geoff are teaching a writer’s workshop on Saturday the 20th at the University Place Hotel. In the morning, Geoff will lead with Forensics for Fiction: make your crime pay

Geoff Symon, a 20-year Federal Forensic Investigator with first-hand experience, will discuss writers’ most common forensic flubs as well as methods and terminology that bring authenticity to writing.

And in the afternoon Damon will be teaching his Half Day Brand Plan

Branding is the cornerstone of all 
promo and marketing, and is necessary to building a career and setting long range goals. Each brand platform must be unique to the individual but where does one start? With Damon Suede, who will help participants find their own brand and guide them toward creating personalized strategies.

The workshop is $75 for the full day ($60 for RCRW members), includes snacks, lunch, an opportunity for one-on-one meetings with Damon or Geoff, and best of all, our evening Cocktail Reception. For more information or to register, follow this link.

“Cocktail Reception,” you ask?

Yes, and readers are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Entry is $20 and it’s also at the University Place Hotel, from 5pm to 8pm, and features snacks and a no-host bar (i.e., the appetizers are covered, but you have to buy your own booze). Tons of local authors will be there along with Damon and Geoff (like me for example). Here’s a short list: Delilah Marvelle, Tiffany Reisz, Andrew Shaffer, Terri Reed, Collette Cameron, Jessa Slade, EJ Russell, Lynda Aicher, Nikka Michaels and etc, etc.

Then on Sunday Feb. 21st, come see Love Between the Covers.

What is it? A documentary about romance readers and writers, and the community we created. We’re screening it at the Venetian in Hillsboro with the support of the lovely Delilah Marvelle. Doors open at 3pm and the movie starts at 4. Again, there’ll be a plethora of authors to schmooze with, and as a bonus, we’ll have goodie bags with books and swag. For tickets, follow this link.
